Stop being a hero, stop being a martyr, think for yourself. Yes I should. No I can't. Yes I have to. No I'll feel guilty. Yes there's nothing in it for me. No it's not me. Yes anyone in your position will do the same. No I cannot forsake. Yes why do you bother if you are taken for granted. No I need to live with myself. Yes I need to survive the present.
I wonder if these are the same feelings that were going through Erik's mind when he so foolishly gave his individual Immunity necklace to Natalie in the most jaw dropping moment of Survivor history. In his shoes, I might just be the same trusting, naive and self reproaching fool and sacrifice my individual immunity for someone else who doesn't give a rat's ass. Even if you are not a Survivor fan, this iconic moment of naivete is worth a look.
I had to see it a few times to get over it. Will I have the luxury of reviewing this section of my life in future thinking what a fool I am or that my Wyrd will not give me any other choice? Am I just a consolation prize?
