A Darkness at Singapore
Tuesday's nationwide blackout couldn't happen at a worse time, but then again, perhaps not. I was going from after a gruelling boxercise session, lugging my excessively heavy gym bag and suffering from a bad bout of cold sweat-inducing indigestion, and was 10 seconds away from stepping into the lift when suddenly "POOF", the lights went out!
The blessing in disguise was that the indigestion slowed down my usually hasty pace into an agonising crawl (punctuated by an "ooh ouch" at every step), which probably stopped my from getting into the lift just after the blackout struck. Faced with the prospect of climbing up 20 storeys, I had to sit at the lobby and rest my stomach awhile before making the ascend. The other blessing: I was wearing my comfortable and light Adidas trainers and not my heels.
Hmm now I'm considering buying the battery-free induction torch that is powered by shaking...
