Kill Bill 2
OK, I don't want to say too much here in case I blab some spoilers... Some things are safe to state though.
1) It's got less action and more talk -- typical QT-styled rambling dialogues/monologues which can be very draggy at times. It's almost as if KB 1 has most of the action and KB 2 has most of the talk...but then again how can anyone top the intensely fast-paced action of The Bride vs The Crazy 88's?
2) Some scenes will still take you by surprise...and I mean extreme surprise. Cool!
3) It's one of the rare QT feel-good movies...in fact I don't think I have seen any of his feel-good films so far (still unwatched are Reservoir Dogs and True Romance).
4) Some parts are really hilarious in a classic Hong Kong Kungfu movie style.
5) Answers a lot of questions about the characters which you might neglect to ask.
6) The music selection this time is not as good as QT's other films.
Overall, I prefer KB 1 but I think it's unfair to compare 2 parts of what is essentially one movie, and you really have to watch KB 2 to get the whole story. It's a good movie, just not as great as KB 1, and if you put the whole thing togther (plus the deleted scenes and all), I think this will be helluva great movie. Now my next goal in life: Buy the extended double movie release on DVD which includes all the deleted scenes!
And on why I prefer KB 1:
1) It's got Gogo Yubari and the Crazy 88's
2) It's got the super-cool Oren Ishii anime sequence which I love to death
3) I love the music!
4) Sonny Chiba is fabulous as Hatori Hanzo! "My English is verrry goood"
5) The choreography of the fight sequences is simply unmatched!
