Finally a piece of good news for a rather demoralising dry spell...
SPCA has replied in writing that they will NOT be party to AVA's culling exercise. For some background on this matter, the link is hither. Excerpt from the letter "...the Management Committee has decided that SPCA should not take over stray control. Taking on such a role will run counter to SPCA's mission...(and SPCA) would have NO power to initiate policy or law changes...that would have an impact on the actual problem." Hear, hear!
Now I can go ahead to renew my membership and buy their merchandise. Their new diaries, calendars and cards are out - is it cos it's doggy year next year or do they seem to have a lot of dogs?? There'll still be a token bunny of course (sorry Da Ying if I offend your woffly-nosed kind). Nothing online for their D&Cs yet but check out the other merchandise nyah... Stalls will be set up on select days in October at Centrepoint to sell merchandise, schedule is nyah (some scrolling required). Your support will be much appreciated by the kitties, doggies and bunnies (and perhaps some other rodenties too).
And in other animal news: As I left today I found clear signs of animal feeding - food packets torn apart and bones scattered. If I wasn't so much in a hurry I would have cleaned up the remnants to remove the traces of what I think might be THE cat before someone complains. Or, who knows, it might just be A rat.
