Where are the kittens?
The kittens have disappeared! Yesterday afternoon I managed to feed one (the cuter one with good eyes) by itself, but later in the day, I heard Oreille Noire's frantic and distressed mewing...she clambered all over the clutter in our backyard looking for her kittens but there was no sign of them. When I left the office, I saw her with the kitten with the allergic eyes at the Muslim grave, but I did not see the cute one anywhere. This morning, mother and daughter (I think, cos I did't see any balls) were all snuggled up cat-napping, but later today, ON was seen wandering alone and not looking very worried at all! She acted like she was a carefree and single cat again! Did she abandon them deliberately or plain forgot about them?! What kind of mother is that?! And her kittens are still so small!!! I don't understand cats at all!
This really breaks my heart...and to think I have bought so many cans of kitten food...
And reading this article doesn't make things easier..."Kitten killing is more common in inexperienced or highly stressed mothers and, because the surviving kittens of a kitten killer may grow up into poor mothers themselves, there may be some genetic problems (leading to hormonal or behavioural problems) influencing kitten killing behaviour in queens. "
We all know high-strung Oreille Noire is...What happened to the kittens??
