Someone sent a bunch of flowers to my office today.

On the DO was a very familiar number, one I recently took off my mobile's highest priority Speed Dial position 2.

A bunch of flowers for me? I had never gotten anything like that in five years that we were together. Partly because of my rather revolting analogy about why we use flowers to symbolise love and affection. I had said if plants ruled the world, how would we animals feel if they start to cut off our reproductive organs just to give to their loved ones to show affection? Because flowers are just that - plant reproductive organs.

How did I, in a person's eyes, change from someone with witty insights and being truly special to one that's selfish and callous?

Which I came to realise that the flowers did not come from him, rather, they were probably from a well-meaning prankster that he has for a friend. In reply, I sent a message to thank him for the flowers, perhaps that will make him punish the poor fellow to mind his own business.

Also, unfortunately, I'm not soft hearted enough to be swayed by a bunch of plant reproductive organs.

Wrong on all assumptions.

Hmm.. Looks like KillerChick has some secret admirer there. Or perhaps secret hater? *gasps* Don't look at me, I 'boh liuee' and also not so 'boh liao'
*innocent look*

Gee, I never thought of flowers as plants' reproductive organs!! Yucks! To think one gets adozen long-stem ones on Valentine's day!!!

Anyway, by now they will all be withered and shrivelled. Moral of the story, to preserve beauty, don't cut off its roots and take care to nurture and water regularly. Same goes for everything else worth preserving.
