In the ghetto
I'm so sick of living in this slummy place. For a few nights last week, I've been kept awake by a loud drunk yelling and screaming - the cops dealt with him finally. And the litter at the lobby and lifts are getting progressively worse. What triggered my fury today (apart from having a really bad day from start to finish) is a plaque at the lift lobby to say "This block sparkles" - amidst the flyers strewn all over the floor, the constant food left hanging in the lift in plastic bags and a few cockroaches on an expedition every day. I can't go on like this - it just got worse these few years, and I think my tolerance has evaporated after living here for two decades. The long daily commute of late and the lack of sleep might have also caused my irritability.
But - I do so love the completeness of my room once I can shut everything else out. All that's missing is probably a cat.
