2 days into my new job...
Wasn't given much to do yet but the place looks stressful. The high security of the place contrasts greatly from my previous office, where IT rules are as liberal as I want them to be. Here, I cannot even install my Palm software without calling up the very busy System Administrator. Personal emails can only be checked using the rather crappy Web-based "Webmail" client and not proper clients like Outlook Express and Mozilla as they won't let me install these. Crap...
From what I see they haven't implemented a site-blocking programme like Websense, thank god for that. What really sucks is that they don't even allow camera phones. To think I was even thinking of upgrading my mobile when I get there!! Crap!
For me, the sudden loss of liberty is a little hard to get used to. Of course, the lack of cats in the area makes me feel lonely too...
